10 Days African Odyssey
Safari Overview

This 10 Day African Odyssey Air Safari offers a luxurious safari holiday that allows you to experience the contrasts in the African landscape, from the semi-desert landscape of the Samburu to the savannahs of the Masai Mara and the Tsavo West National Park. Stay in top, luxury Kenyan camps along the way; enjoy excellent service and delicious gourmet meals.

  • Samburu Game Reserve – Is a captivating safari destination that offers a starkly different landscape and wildlife experience – most famous for its unique wildlife adapted to the dry, arid conditions. These five species, often called the “Samburu Special Five,”
  • Maasai Mara  – A Maasai Maravast wilderness that is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania. It is renowned for its abundant wildlife, sweeping savannahs, and the unique culture of the Maasai people.
  • Chyulu Hills – Is often called the “Green Hills of Africa,” are a stunning volcanic mountain range located between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks in southeastern Kenya. This is a less-visited but incredibly rewarding destination for those seeking a more rugged, wild, and off-the-beaten-path safari experience.

Day 1 – 3: Samburu Game Reserve: Saruni Samburu

Begin your safari vacation from Wilson Airport, Nairobi, where you board your flight to Samburu, a semi-desert region in the remote frontier district.

  • Melting waters of Mount Kenya feed rivers which support a surprising array of wildlife. This region is known for its elephants and the endangered Grevy’s zebra. Spend the next couple of days discovering the wildlife on game drives and guided walks. Stay in the Luxury Saruni Samburu safari camp and enjoy attentive service and friendly hospitality. Delve into the fascinating culture of the Samburu people during a cultural visit to a traditional homestead.

Day 4 – 6: Fly Maasai Mara: Mara Plains Camp

Continue your journey with a flight to a bush airstrip in the Masai Mara

  • Here you will spend the next 3 nights at Mara Plains camp. Take some time exploring one of Africa’s iconic safari destinations where you can see the great migration and the many predators that feed on this magnificent spectacle. Go on guided game drives, led by Maasai Warriors or really experience the bush on foot through an interpretive bush walk.
  • Stop off for sundowners and watch the colours of the sky change as the sun sets. Then discover the region’s nocturnal animals such as a leopard, hyena and lion on the prowl during a night game drive before returning to Mara Plains Camp. Optional activities include a visit to a traditional Maasai homestead or taking to the sky with a hot air balloon safari, which is truly one of the most tranquil wildlife experiences.

Day 7 – 9: Chulu Hills: Ol Donyo Lodge

On the morning of day 7, you will fly on your chartered flight to the Chyulu Hills in the Tsavo West National Park.

  • Track elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino under the guidance of an expert guide. On a game drive, you can visit the Mzima Springs, whose source is from a natural reservoir under the Chyulu Hills and are crystal clear, affording some of the best Hippo watching in Kenya
  • You can go horse riding, novice to professional, or mountain biking or even hiking here. There is an open air hide for some excellent game viewing and even sleep-outs on private “star beds” for the more adventurous.

This safari exceeded every expectation! The game drives in Serengeti and Ngorongoro were incredible, and we saw the Big Five within just a few days. What made it truly unique was the cultural side, walking through Mto wa Mbu village, meeting the Masai, and spending time with the Hadzabe was unforgettable. The lodges were luxurious, the guides were knowledgeable, and everything was perfectly organized. I felt like I experienced the real Tanzania.

I’ve been on safaris before, but this one stood out because of the mix of wildlife, scenery, and local interaction. Watching elephants in Tarangire, flamingos at Lake Manyara, and lions in Serengeti was magical. Visiting Olduvai Gorge and learning about human history added so much depth. The guides were friendly and passionate, the food was excellent, and the accommodations were beyond comfortable. I’ll cherish the memories forever.

From the moment I landed in Arusha, I was impressed by the level of care and detail in this tour. The cultural visits were eye-opening, especially spending time with the Hadzabe and seeing their traditional hunting skills. Every lodge had breathtaking views, and the sundowners overlooking the plains were magical. The combination of wildlife encounters and cultural immersion made this safari truly special. Highly recommended to anyone wanting more than just game drives!
